"THE DETAILS"

Deuteronomy 5:32-33

“So Moses told the people, “You must be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God, following his instructions in every detail. Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy”

Joshua 1:16-18 

‘They answered Joshua, “We will do whatever you command us, and we will go wherever you command us, and we will go wherever you send us. We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses. And may the Lord your God be with you as He was with Moses. Anyone who rebels against your orders and does not obey your words and everything you command will be put to death. So be strong and courageous!”

Praise the LORD everyone! Let us magnify His wonderful name, for truly He alone is worthy of all our praise. From the rising of the sun to the setting of the same, He is worthy! Thank you for your continuous support and prayers toward this mission to win souls for the kingdom! It’s not by might, nor power, but only by the Spirit of the Lord! The Bible tells us in Psalm 133:1-3, NKJV, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing—Life forevermore.” Whether we are close in body or in the spirit, the Lord truly delights when we can come together in unity. 

Have you ever purchased a new vehicle and taken the time to read “THE DETAILS” in the owner’s manual? I’ll be the first to say that, yes, I have purchased a new vehicle. However, no, I have never taken the time to read the owner’s manual. I can recall making an attempt to read it, but this was only due to an alert on the dashboard of my car. Saints of God, this is not a wise approach. Did you know that the owner’s manual is an instructional booklet specifically made for your vehicle? Whether it’s a troubleshoot or maintenance issue, the manual provides important information to ensure a better driving experience. Just as it is necessary to read “THE DETAILS” in the owner’s manual for our vehicle, it is equally important to pay close attention to “THE DETAILS” written in the Bible. Every detail is necessary and must not be taken lightly. Just as I learned from a church sister that the acronym for the BIBLE is “Biblical Instructions Before Leaving Earth,” we are reminded to follow these instructions carefully. 

According to the Cambridge dictionary, the word “detail” means “a single piece of information or fact about something.” Throughout both the Old and New Testaments, the Lord Jesus provided His people with specific details to guide them in walking in His perfect will. Moses, God's chosen prophet, walked and talked with the Lord daily, but it was essential for “THE DETAILS” to be obeyed and followed. The Lord intended this to be passed down from generation to generation and it is our responsibility to do so as children of God. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NLT) states, “And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Do you have a successor who will lead the way and carry out “THE DETAILS” of the Great Commission (Matthew 28)? Does your family know about the great God of Israel who rescued you from your sins? Before the death of Moses, he asked God to appoint a successor to lead the Israelites. That successor was Joshua also known as Yehoshua in Hebrew (meaning Yahweh is salvation). He served as Moses' assistant for 40 years before becoming the leader. 

Let’s go a little bit deeper. The Word of God tells us about a man named Noah. He obeyed God’s command to build an ark, even though the world around him might have thought it was foolish. Noah’s faith in God’s word and character motivated him to take action. Hebrews 11:7 says, “It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.” The flood destroyed the wicked and all creatures on the land, except those in the ark. The story of Noah’s obedience is a true example of how faith in God and obedience to “THE DETAILS” given by God can save SOULS! Saints of God, I don’t only want my soul to be saved but also that of my family, friends and everyone around me. For the Lord wishes for none to perish but for all to come unto repentance. 

If you are reading this devotional and have not given your life to Jesus, don’t wait! Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. As written in our previous devotion, “The Holy Spirit is Necessary”- the Lord’s return is near, and there must be a sounding alarm to tell all your family, friends and those we meet on the highway and byways that obedience to “THE DETAILS” of God's Word is Vital! 

Your obedience to “THE DETAILS” of God’s Word can lead someone to Salvation. What has the Lord laid on your heart to do? Are you questioning “THE DETAILS” because they don't make sense to you? It might be one simple word the Lord has told you to say to someone. The Word of God declares, “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty” (1 Corinthians 1:27, NLT). Some things might not make sense to us, but I want to encourage us, to not “quench the Spirit” (1 Thessalonians 5:19). Let us move out of our comfort zone and follow "THE DETAILS" given to us by the LORD.

As noted in our focus scriptures, Deuteronomy 5 and Joshua 1, these mighty men of God continued to pass down “THE DETAILS” of God's Commandments. We too, who have been made joint heirs of Christ Jesus, must arise by faith, and obey to carry out the Great Commission for the Kingdom of God. Let us also remember to prepare a successor to do the same. The time is at hand! Let us walk by faith and not by sight to declare God's Word, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
